Battling on sheer perseverance, Jordan found a way to will his team to victory. Too often, athletes are referred to as heroes, but during Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals, MJ showed everyone that courage and a competitive nature can endure even the toughest circumstances.
He willed his team to a pivotal victory while playing 45 of the 48 minutes in the game.
“It was all about desire,” Jordan said in a post-game press conference. “Somehow I found the energy to stay strong.”
Fun fact: Jordan hit the game winner in Games 5 and 6 to earn his 6th NBA Championship.
